# Export traces to Datadog

Send Checkly traces to Datadog through direct OTLP intake.

Before you start, read the prerequisites on the [OTLP export page](https://www.checklyhq.com/docs/integrations/observability/traces/otlp) and check [what is sent](https://www.checklyhq.com/docs/integrations/observability/traces/otlp#what-is-sent).
This page only covers the values Datadog needs.

- Get the endpoint. Use the URL for your Datadog site. Site URL US1 (`datadoghq.com`) `https://otlp.datadoghq.com/v1/traces` US3 (`us3.datadoghq.com`) `https://otlp.us3.datadoghq.com/v1/traces` US5 (`us5.datadoghq.com`) `https://otlp.us5.datadoghq.com/v1/traces` EU (`datadoghq.eu`) `https://otlp.datadoghq.eu/v1/traces` AP1 (`ap1.datadoghq.com`) `https://otlp.ap1.datadoghq.com/v1/traces` AP2 (`ap2.datadoghq.com`) `https://otlp.ap2.datadoghq.com/v1/traces` UK1 (`uk1.datadoghq.com`) `https://otlp.uk1.datadoghq.com/v1/traces` US1-FED (`ddog-gov.com`) `https://otlp.ddog-gov.com/v1/traces` US2-FED (`us2.ddog-gov.com`) `https://otlp.us2.ddog-gov.com/v1/traces`

- Get the key. In Datadog, go to **Organization Settings** > **API Keys** and create a key.

- Paste the values into Checkly. On the [Traces settings page](https://app.checklyhq.com/settings/account/traces), turn on **Enable exporting traces**, paste the URL, and add both headers from the table below. Without `compute_stats`, Datadog does not compute trace metrics.

- Find the spans. In Datadog APM, the spans appear under service `checkly`.

If no spans arrive, check the site first. Datadog answers 403 when the site does not match your organization or the key is wrong.

To see failed runs, filter on the attribute `checkly.check.status` with the value `FAILED`.
